Program Overview

AskConductor is a music-education platform where students learn theory, songwriting, and music production by creating real music— in the styles they actually listen to. An AI tutor (“Conductor”) generates and explains music alongside the student: every creative choice comes with the why, in age-appropriate language.

The instructional loop: students create (guided lessons and an open studio), Conductor explains the theory inside their own work, teachers assess (auto-graded checks and rubric-graded projects), and results report to the teacher gradebook, a per-concept mastery dashboard, and — where connected — Google Classroom.

Assessment & Reporting

  • Auto-graded theory checks — 10-question assessments with instant, explanatory feedback; scores flow to the teacher gradebook automatically (students cannot alter scores — grading is server-side).
  • Concept mastery dashboard — every quiz question is concept-tagged; teachers see class-wide and per-student mastery (e.g., “chords 33%”) to plan reteaching.
  • Studio capstones — students hand in original music from the Studio; teachers open the actual project, listen, and grade against provided rubrics.
  • Google Classroom integration — roster import (no join codes) and one-click grade passback to the Classroom gradebook.
  • CSV export — full gradebook export for district systems.

Privacy & Compliance Summary

  • Minimal data collection: email, display name, role, grade band, and learning progress. No ads, no selling of data, no behavioral profiling.
  • AI requests carry musical content only — no student identity is ever attached; our AI provider does not train on this data.
  • COPPA: school-consent model for under-13 students. FERPA: we operate as a school official; schools own and control their records.
